Louis Vallet’s wines are vivacious, yet possess a levelof control and delicacy that belies their vibrantcharacter. He is a serious and talented winemakerwho hails from the family’s Domaine Pierre Bouree,where he will eventually inherit vineyards. However,as is common in Burgundy, family inheritancedisputes have delayed this transition. In themeantime, Vallet has launched a negociantbusiness, operating out of the buildings of hisparental home, the Chateau de Charodon, locatedin Meursault-les-Beaune. It is only a matter of timebefore he reaps the rewards of his family’svineyards, but for now, his focus remains on othersources. Vallet’s winemaking style has beeninfluenced by the visionary ideas of mentors likePascal Marchand. This is evident in the generous,pure, mid-palate fruit, drinkability, and complexity ofthe Chateau de Charodon wines, which maintain asense of simplicity while hinting at their underlyingpotential.
